1.What is your involvement with the historic houses in Fairmount Park?
I am the Vice President and chairperson of the Music Committee for the Women for Greater Philadelphia who are the stewards of Laurel Hill Mansion. I have been an active member for the past 12 years and am responsible for the Concerts by Candlelight , a summer series of chamber music concerts, entering its 42 season of music in this very unique venue.
2.What are your top 3 favorite things about the holidays at the historic houses?
Laurel Hill Mansion is the only historic house in Fairmount Park to have a beautifully decorated live Christmas tree.
We serve tea and sell gingerbread men and women which our visitors love.
We get to share our love and history of Laurel Hill Mansion, “a little house with a big heart”.
3.What are you most looking forward to during “A Very Philly Christmas” at the historic houses this year?
I am looking forward to sharing our beautiful home and all the wonderful things that makes Philadelphia so special (music, food, and hospitality}.
4.What was the best gift you ever received (or gave) during the holidays?
One year I gave family and friends cards indicating donations to different charities I gave in their names.
5.What is the top reason for people to come out to the historic houses for the holidays this year?
Many people from the Philadelphia area don’t know that we have such beautiful colonial era homes right on their door steps. This year a wonderful program of sights, sounds, tastes, and smells has been planned to give our visitors a wonderful holiday and historical experience.
